Scottsdale, AZ – February 22, 2013. Examination Management Services, Inc. (EMSI), the market leader in medical information, risk management and investigative services, has launched new evidential breath testing (EBT) equipment to replace the current ASIV units.  The new equipment, Intoximeters RBTVxl, is an advanced handheld, microprocessor-driven instrument with evidential-grade accuracy. It is an approved device on NHTSA’s Conforming Products List.

The equipment is programmed with EMSI’s own software design specifications so that tests will be more efficient, giving clients the accurate results they need fast.  Some of the key improvements of the new equipment include:

  • Ability to electronically download results from the equipment and deliver to clients quickly.
  • Step-by-step testing program for fewer errors.  Our proprietary software program is DOT-approved, can include client-specific protocols and walks the technician through the test process so no steps are missed.
  • Tamper-evident paper for fast results.  Test results print on tamper-evident sticky-backed paper without needing evidence tape, which means results are clearly visible and more efficiently processed.
  • Battery-operated design for true portability and no need for an electrical outlet.

“We’re committed to investing in tools and technology that will improve our Drug and Alcohol Testing services and provide our customers with the best solutions in the industry,” said Susan Gilmartin, EMSI’s senior vice president and chief operating officer of Employer Services.  “Using this new EBT equipment allows us to efficiently perform alcohol collections so clients can get business back on track as fast as possible.”

“EMSI’s investment in this new equipment shows their dedication to clients and our partnership,” said Richard Wrobel, president of Forensic Drug & Alcohol Testing, LLC and EMSI customer.  “This new equipment has everything you look for in an alcohol testing device and we’re very pleased with the continued excellent results of using EMSI’s Drug and Alcohol Testing services.”

Deployment of the new equipment began in January 2013 and will continue throughout 2013 to EMSI branch offices.

Electronic signature technology is becoming the preferred method of signature across a multitude of industries.  In our industry, e-Signature is also gaining momentum, as it provides a more efficient and secure means to obtain a signature.  Because of the benefits to our customers such as a reduction in cycle time and a better client experience, EMSI is working with a number of medical records providers to accept the use of an e-Signature on special authorization forms.

We are pleased to inform you that our effort and collaboration with medical records providers has paid off.  Several major clinic and hospital systems will now be accepting EMSI’s electronic signatures on special authorization forms.  This means that all of our customers will begin benefiting from electronic signature technology immediately.  In addition, this will better position EMSI to access medical records electronically.

The e-Signature process is very simple.  If a special authorization is required, your client will receive an email with a link to the form.  Your client can then electronically sign the form from their computer or mobile device. Click here to view a short demo of the process.

Over the next year, you can expect more medical facilities and copy services to begin accepting electronic signature technology as they shift to more technology-enabled processes.

If you have any questions regarding e-Signatures, please contact your EMSI Relationship Manager.
